LLOG BLOG #39: Traditional Irish Holiday?

Sean Connery: Not traditionally Irish. Not at all Irish.

Though we are well past the holiday many of us love and cherish, the LLOG BLOG DEPARTMENT thought it would still make an intriguing report on some Irish arts and culture this week. Many other art-based news sources don’t have the courage to report on this sort of thing in this political climate. But the staff at the LLOG BLOG does.

What better way to start than to give the LLOG BLOG READERS a glimpse of how the LOGMAN INDUSTRIES: CHAIRMAN OF FOODS AND BEVS, Louie Loggerman spends St. Patrick’s Day. Check it out:

A little green to get us started.

Make a list.

Make soda bread.

Soda bread with Himilayan Salt and whole garlic cloves.

Baked. Better that way.

Picture of a green dumpster.

Prepare sweet potatoes, onions and regular potatoes.

Salt, Pepper and Guinness.

Corned beef on top. Cover and roast in oven at 275F for 6-7 hours. MMM.

Veggies in a crock pot.

Pick some fresh rosemary and thyme.

Corned beef in the crock with herbs, 1 cup coffee and (2) Guinness. 4 hours on low.

“No dogs or Irish.” Well, this guy is not invited AT ALL!

Dressed in nice socks and shoes.

Irish Butter. (for everything.)

Irish cheese. Japanese knife.

Set the table.

Okay, now we’re talkin’.

Roast your cabbage in oven for about 10 min on 375F with a little drizzle of sriracha or just seas salt and olive oil. Then it doesn’t get all soggy and gross.

Beef is done.

Three different kinds of beef. WHOA! Mmmmm.

Time to eat.

Most of the stuff was eaten.

Desert.

Utility Box Art = could’ve been better.

Stamping, frozen plane = I don’t know. Art, I guess.

Nephew asked for a Velociraptor farting log. This is what we came up with. Sorry nephew. (& sorry LB Readers.)

Deviled Eggs in Process = Art.

Spray-Painted “Amway” (?) = art.

Nephew -requested “Mummy Farting Log” = art. (Note: He said this was a “really good one.”)

LLOG BLOG #37: Squares

Welcome to LLOG BLOG #37. This week we take a look at squares.

It should be noted by all LLOG BLOG readers that the square is apparently one of the most challenging shapes. Most things, as it turns out, are rectangular. Let’s take a look:

This Candle is Square. Nice work!

This snapshot of clouds is NOT square.

This pillow = square. (Though it’s kind of a ploppy square.)

Let’s go ahead and ask the EXPERT on all things that are a shape… LOGMAN INDUSTRIES CFO, Daniel Logman…

“Mr. Logman, how would you best describe a square?”

Oh. okay.

… So what else is square? Let’s have a closer look:

Crosswords = square. YES!

Print-offs of scans of photos of your uncle playing hockey in the early ‘80s = NOT SQUARE.

Sidewalk = squares… before they got all cracked.

Freshly started painting = NOT Square.

Machine-made, crappy art made to fill wall space needlessly = square.

Oh yeah! Well, there are more square things…

Little Poloroids of a bunch of dogs on a wall = not square. (but pretty dang cool!)

Print-off of this meme-thingy about blueberry muffins and chihuahuas = square!

Borg Llog = square. Yes it is.

Future cloud paintings = NOT square. That’s okay, though.

The lucite case for this REAL, AUTHENTIC hockey puck signed by Wayne Gretzky (FOR REALS!) = Square.

LLOG BLOG #36: Arted in Public

Flava Flav. Public Enemy…so we are told.

Welcome to LLOG BLOG #36. 36 is a special number here at LOGMAN INDUSTRIES, so we are going to work to make this a very special edition of the LLOG BLOG.

The focus for this new edition of the LLOG BLOG is art out in public. Let’s have a look:

(Scribbley Blob). Artist: Unknown. Spray Paint. about 60” x 48.” 2019

I suppose that last one could be a Banksy. Who knows?

(Oh FRICK! This was on the wall at the Poly Clinic and I thought is was cool and well lit/displayed. However, I thought I could zoom into the tag to the lower right. It’s too blurry. Dang it!)

That’s too bad about not getting the artist info on that last one. We’ll try harder next time. It is important to note that most 2d art in public is poorly displayed and/or lit. We’ll get back to that later…

This next one is a good one!

“Labatt’s El Camino Snow Day” 2019. Plastic, steel, rubber, cardboard, and whoop-ass. 2019.

Though the artist is unknown on that last one, we are fairly certain it is a Canadian artist.

Seriously. That is a new low for effort-towards-art-making for LMI. Do better next time.

The next (2) paintings are also unfortunate examples.

These are (2) of (4) paintings on display in the hall of the 36th floor of the Seattle Municipal Tower (one of the Seattle City Light floors). Though SCL works with power… which brings light to around 2 million people in King County, they couldn’t be bothered with lighting these nice paintings properly. Let’s take a look:

“Dark with Blue Spotlight.” Margie Livingston. Oil on Canvas. About 42” x 60” (perhaps the title was predicting the shitty lighting job this painting would get from the SCL art hanging dept.)

This next one has natural lighting.

“Skull Fence.” Artist unknown. Spray paint on Fence. .. I don’t know… like 48” x 72”? (Looks like someone went ahead and trespassed.)

More…

“Fabs.” Artist Unknown. Spray paint under an overpass. (Nice shadow, frickin’ truck!)

Our LMI: Seattle Offices have noticed many of these utility boxes around the King County area getting professionally painted and/or decorated. However, we haven’t seen one like this until now…

Though LMI does not promote competition in the workplace, LMI: Seattle: Public Art Division was going to try their hand in painting one of these public utility boxes by applying to the Ballard Utility Box Beautification Program. However, they missed the deadline and other people won.

Soft Ball = circle. (This ball was given to LMI 27 years ago and reads, “This ball went over the fence at the Bronx Zoo and a cape buffalo pissed on it. It’s a real ‘keepsake.’”

Eye = oval.

Wayne Gretzky signed puck = circle. (We really have this at one of our Los Angeles offices. And it’s certified real. Really real.)
