LLOG BLOG #46: Spring Cleaning by Matt Everett

Mr. Clean

Welcome back to the LLOG BLOG. (Please note that we are not using adjectives like “World-reknown” or '“Industry-leading” anymore.)

Anyway, this week, while we have the time, we are looking to clean up our work spaces (both physical and mental). As you may know, all LOGMAN INDUSTRIES Creative Rooms are required to use cork-board vision boards at all offices around the world. (See sample below). We have requested that all of these VB’s (as they are called in the office…cool, huh?) get completely cleared as we prepare for a new line of work and product for the post-COVID-19 world.

Here is an example of one of our VB-19s:

Vision Board 2019: LMI Creative Team Office: Regina, Saskatchewan.

So… We had our many offices send in their some of their favorite VB items from over the past few years.

Oh cool! Here’s one just in from the northeast:

This is a postcard from the Ogunquit Museum of Art permanent Collection. It is of the painting by Henry Strater (1896-1987), Profile of Hemingway, 1922 Oil on board. NOOICE!

NOOICE! Here’s a cool one sent in from one of our west coast offices:

Post card from the Winston Wachter Mayer Fine Art Gallery, New York, NY, of John Bowman’s painting Plenty, oil on canvas 2004. Opening Wednesday March 31, 2004 6-8pm. (I think we missed this one)

Nice cake! We will archive that one in the LMI Archival Vaults in… (we cannot disclose that location).

Here’s one from our LMI: Rock City Creative Dept in Cleveland, OH:

Emergency Mustache. (Because you never know.)

Here’s one from our LMI: Creativity In Sports Program Dept in Fort Collins, CO:

Olsen! Polson! Beecher! Plath!

I think that one is an inside joke or something. That one will NOT likely be sent to the LMI Archival Vaults.

Oh, here’s another post card of a Strater painting of Hemingway from that Ogunquit Museum:

Ernest Hemingway (‘Boxer Portrait’)” 1922 Henry Strater.

BTW: That museum is pretty cool. It’s right on the water and has a wide variety of art, the most interesting of which is, of course, the paintings. Go check it out sometime! The Ogunquit Museum of Art

Anyway, here’s a small snap shot of a large painting that’s been on one VB for over 10 years! (LMI: Arts and Logistics Dept: Hollywood, FL)

Photograph of “Bad Idea,” by M. Everett, oil on canvas, ca. 2005.

This one, too, has been on an LMI VB for far too long (LMI: Creative Devs: Hollywood, CA)

“Lon Cheney, Jr. as the Wolf Man”… A post card of a postage stamp?

Okay, Let’s allow the LLOG BLOG Committee to take a break from all of that VB stuff. Let’s go to our new LLOG BLOG READER FAVORITE… The ARTISTS OF THE WEEK!

First one, He’s an oldie (1445-1510) from an old country… He’s mainly known for such hits as, “The Birth of Venus” and “Venus and Mars” (look ‘em up) and also wore funny hats! Well boys may be from Mars and girls from Venus, but this dude hails from the boot shaped peninsula (?) we call ITALY… Yes, you guessed it… its SANDRO BOTTICELLI ! BOOOOOOM!

“Damn it, Debbie! You spilled the cigars again!”

That snip is from the larger 1483 tempura work called, “The Story of Natagio degli Onesti: Scene 3: The Banquet in the Pinewoods.” Well, if I knew it was going to be this kind of banquet, I’d a…. Never mind.

LMI: Artists of the Week Intermission:

Here’s a sneak peak at some new work coming out our LMI: Artistic Development and Innovation Dept: Napoli, IT:

OOOOOOhhhhh! What will it be?

… Stay tuned to LLOG BLOG for more from the LMI:AD&I next week, if you are wondering what it will be.

Back to LMI: ARTISTS OF THE WEEK:

The second LMI:AotW is a contemporary artist from Idaho and his name is Carl Grammer:

Nice fruit, Carl, you goddamned genius.

Stay tuned next week for more LMI ARTISTS OF THE WEEK!

Anyway, here it is… the hands-down READERS’ FAVORITE:

THE LLOG BLOG READER SEND-IN OF THE WEEK!

Here’s one from the frosty arctic state of Colorado, where these unnamed young gentlemen have been forced to fight for their food. Sad… but hugely entertaining.

Fight for your bannana.

That was cool!

Last section of LLOG BLOG this week was “recommended” by our LMI: HR Dept: Fargo, ND… it is ….. (drum roll)…

The LMI employee of the week. boom.

It’s Dan Cleveland, LMI: HR Dept.

Dan Cleveland. Boom.

Okay, that’s it! Be nice to people (over text, Zoom and Skype, hopefully), be safe and have a LOGGY WEEK!*

*LMI HR Dept requires us to say this every week.

LLOG BLOG #45: The Shot Heard Nowhere Around the World: Ch-ch-ch-Changes. by Matt Everett

Changes at LMI: inevitable. Sorry.

Hello and Welcome back to another SHOCKING issue of the WORLD-RENOWNED LLOG BLOG!

As responsible providers of cutting-edge fine art/culture news, we want to start this issue with a letter from the editor, regarding rumors about LMI and their artistic direction for 2020 which have been circulating industry-wide for over 5 days now. Here is said letter:

Short and to the point. That’s why we hired an LMI Editor.

Yes, the rumors are indeed true. LMI will be closing most of their international offices, firing everyone except for their TOP-RATED, GRADE A, SUPER-CHARGED CREATIVE TEAM, moving all production to one location, (probably in Seattle, WA) and ceasing all production of LOG-BASED ARTWORK for at least 365 days (1 year).

However, before we get into the details, let’s revisit the title of this issue of the LLOG BLOG momentarily:

Ch-Ch-Changes. David Bowie.

Anyways, until 1/1/2020, we will be using the LLOG BLOG to highlight some of the best of log-based artwork through the years. Like this exploding log:

An Exploding Log.

Oh, don’t be sad, little buddies,

Sad Little Buddy.

…LMI will be very active with another project, which you… YES YOU… can help out with. (Read more below for the details).

Here’s another great one… a MOON BOOT Log Guy:

Moon Boot Log Guy.

Oh, and remember some of the failed marketing/design projects like this one for OLD DOG SK8S?

Graphic for a skateboard.

This one illustrates what it would look like on the actual skate board. All that engineering, designing, artistry for NOTHING.

Thanks again OLD DOG SK8S. We intend to thank more companies in the future. Stay tuned for that.

Here is another blast from the past… a random TOAST DUDE:

Random Toast Dude.

Oh, and remember the plans to do a full campaign of LURKING LOGS?

A Lurking Log.

And what about those rainbow bush thingies?

Rainbow Shrub, actually.

So… what will LMI do then in 2020. LMI intends to do a year (or more) of portraiture. We will have our team of artist focus solely on the art of painting portraits… people, dogs, cats, whatever.

Here’s how you can help if you care to…. send a PICTURE OF YOUR SUBJECT (you, your partner, your cat, local postal worker, whatever) to info@logmanindustries.com. We may use your image as we work through thousands of paintings in 2020.

Try to take it like this… Plain background, head and shoulders.

Send a pic like this.

We have already received a few… surprise, surprise… OZZY didn’t follow the rules (look at the backgraound).

Not the way to do it.

And, LLOG BLOG will continue to report weekly on top-rated fine art/culture news… and will be adding in a new TOP 10 THINGS section, where the remaining employees at LMI will list the best things. You as reader will have the opportunity every week to write in and give your opinion on these TOP 10 THINGS.

Next week, we will do the best HOLIDAY ALBUMS! Stay tuned!

Good Holiday Albums.

That’s it. Have fun, be nice to people and have a LOGGY WEEK!

Satan-y Mouse. (probably art.) Artist Unknown

Cloud paintings. (Oh these are DEFINITELY art! and GOOD ART at that.)

(Paintings by LMI)

Dumpster Painting. Artist Unknown. (We’re not sure on this one.)

Is this art? Is this the Alice in Chains singer, Layne Staley?

We don’t know who the frick this is. (Artist: Joe Nix (we think)).

Another Dumpster painting. Pretty cool!

Is this concrete building art?

This is the only dumpster in Seattle without “art” on it. Unfortunately, it’s broken.

“Boing.” By LMI. (This is art.)

Is this drawn-on photo a piece of art? Yes, it is. (Art by LMI)

Is that art? (it does look pretty cool. The shades of green are interesting.)

Is this pic of a bath mat and a wall art? If you think so, we will sell you a print right now. 5$. (Photo by LMI)

Happy Birthday. Art by LMI.

There’s a LOT of good art in this place!

… Hmmm…

Blue Cloud Paintings by LMI

Picture of the Sky. Wowwwww.

The Edge of a stack of plywood. (OSB, actually, but you probably already know that and have already emailed us rudely about the mistake.)

Look at those clouds!

Coffee house in Connecticut. Wow.

Wow. Look at those clouds.

Doesn’t that water tower in the back ground look like a UFO or something?

Two little fluffy clouds.

One little fluffy water tower.

Another cloud painting by LMI. (2016). (bad pic)

Yet another water tower. (note: blue, blue sky in the background!)

This is one of the best podcasts we here at LMI have ever listened to. Tyler Mahan Coe (@tylermahancoe) sits firmly on the level of Dan Carlin… and even Howard Zinn, in our history book! Check it out and tell a friend!

Okay, this one is just lazy. but it is blue.

That’s is enough for this week. LMI aims to get back on track next week.
